Section 12(1) Legal Appointment
Provide qualified personnel for a part-time legal appointment as an Occupational Hygienist in compliance with Section 12(1) of the Mine Health and Safety Act 29 of 1996, as amended. Perform regular site visits as specified in the agreed service level agreement.
Occupational Hygiene Exposure Measurements
Provide qualified personnel to conduct essential and operational Occupational Hygiene exposure measurements, including airborne pollutants (dust, fumes, gases), noise, thermal stress, illumination, surface swabs, local exhaust ventilation systems (LEVS), or as per the agreed Scope of Work. Perform regular site visits as specified in the agreed service level agreement.
Mandatory Code of Practices and Related SOPs
Compile new or review existing Mandatory Code of Practices (MCOPs) in line with the DMRE Mandatory COP Guidelines related SOPs and conducted Occupational Hygiene Baseline Hazards Identification and Risk Assessment (HIRA) or Issue-Based Risk Assessment (IBRA).
Qualitative & Quantitative Hygiene Hazards Identification and Risk Assessment (HIRA)
Compile new or review existing Occupational Hygiene Baseline Hazards Identification and Risk Assessment (HIRA), or Issue-Based Risk Assessment (IBRA) to effectively address health hazars catergories including physical, chemica, ergonomics, biologocal and pyschosocial hazards.
Systems Audit & Gap Analysis Mine Occupational Hygiene & Ventilation Engineering
Review the existing Occupational Health and Hygiene Management System and Program, addressing areas such as legal obligations and compliance, statutory reporting to stakeholders, hazard identification and risk assessment (HIRA), exposure monitoring programs, reporting and record-keeping, remedial actions and follow-ups, incident and accident investigations, implementation of control measures, emergency preparedness and response plans, as well as training and awareness initiatives.
